Post Office - Newark, NJ - Lead Encasement
The Challenge
This New Jersey Post Office needed to repaint the steel on the loading dock area. The steel was covered with lead based paint which needed to be abated. Epoxy and Alkyd paint were unable to be used because of the odors created during the application process.

The Solution
The FiberTech Encasement System was chosen because of its proven ability to contain hazardous materials. The water based, zero VOC, F-50MS Rust Inhibiting Penetrating Stabilizer Primer was used to contain any loosely adhered lead paint and to halt the rusting process on the steel. The primer was allowed to dry overnight and then two coats of the F-51 Sealer Coat were applied over the entire surface. This provided the owner with a corrosion resistant, waterproof system that would protect the steel while containing the lead paint for a minimum of twenty years.
