The Challenge
The entire interior of the historic TWA Terminal was lined with exposed asbestos fireproofing. There were areas where the exposed fireproofing was all the way down to floor level. Over the years the fireproofing had become loose and friable in some areas. The Port Authority wanted the asbestos to be made safe for everyone using the terminal.

The Solution
An encasement system was chosen. Our company helped to specify and monitor the installation of the encasement system that was used to encase all of the asbestos in the entire terminal. The system consisted of a primer coat and two coats of the finish. This provided an asbestos safe environment for anyone entering the terminal.
